Flip P2 Review

I hopped in the van with my buddies this weekend for a little skate trip and was excited to try out my new Flip P2 deck. For those that don't check the 360 blog everyday let me bring you up to speed. Flip's P2 construction is the latest in skateboard technology, bringing the rider a thinner, stronger, and supposedly longer lasting skateboard. I can vouch for the first two, and hopefully in a month or so I will be able to say that the board lasts longer as well. Anyways, I would like to say that the board felt really well under my feet. It basically felt like a glorified Creature. The concave, nose, and tail felt really similar to the Navarette Hesh Saint deck that I switched from. I really liked that deck and was stoked that the Flip felt the same way. The only real difference I noticed between the P2 and a regular 7-ply deck was that the P2 had very little flex to it. The board stayed as stiff as...well...a board, no matter what I did. It will be interesting to see how long the board retains that stiffness, or if it will go soggy. Only time will tell, but for the moment I am completely satisfied with my P2, and would recommend one to anybody who wants to try something different. Do I think it will revolutionize skateboard design? Probably not, but it is nice to see companies attempting to provide a stronger, longer lasting skateboard deck. The only problem that I have with the board was the graphic. The graphics on these P2's are about as lame as they come, so if you decide to try one out, make sure you have an extra 5 bucks for a can of spray paint.
